Verification Policy

What a verified badge means — and what it does not.

1. Purpose

Trust is the foundation of a matrimonial platform. Roohly offers optional verification so that Members may demonstrate, to a reasonable standard, that they are who they claim to be. This Policy forms part of our Terms of Service.

2. Levels of Verification

Badge	What it means
Email verified	The Member has confirmed control of the email address on the account.
Mobile verified	The Member has confirmed control of the mobile number on the account via OTP.
Photo verified	A liveness/selfie image has been compared against the profile photographs by our review team.
ID verified	A government-issued identity document (CNIC / NICOP / passport) has been submitted and reviewed against the name, date of birth, and photograph on the profile.
Education verified	A degree or educational certificate has been submitted and reviewed.
Employment verified	An employment letter, appointment letter, or equivalent has been submitted and reviewed.
Marital status verified	Where the Member declares as divorced or widowed, a divorce decree/khula order or death certificate has been submitted and reviewed.

3. How Documents Are Handled

Documents are uploaded over an encrypted connection and stored in encrypted form.
Access is restricted to trained verification staff on a strict need-to-know basis, with all access logged.
Documents are never displayed to any other Member.
Documents are deleted after 12 months, or on deletion of the account, whichever occurs first — the verification badge remains, the underlying document does not.
Verification is optional. You may use the Platform without submitting any document, though unverified profiles receive reduced visibility.

4. Limitations — Please Read Carefully

Verification means only that a document was submitted and was reviewed against defined criteria on a particular date. It does not mean, and must never be taken to mean:

that the Member has no criminal record;
that the Member is of good character, honest, or safe;
that the Member has no undisclosed marriage, dependants, debts, or illness;
that any statement on the profile beyond the verified data point is true;
that the information remains accurate after the date of verification;
that Roohly recommends or endorses that Member.

We do not carry out criminal-record checks, medical checks, financial checks, or background investigations. We do not warrant the authenticity of any document submitted to us.

5. Your Own Due Diligence

Verification is a starting point, not a substitute for your own enquiry. Before proceeding with any Member, you and your family should make independent enquiries through family, community, and, where appropriate, professional means. See our Safety & Reporting page for red flags to watch for.

6. False Documents

The submission of any forged, altered, or fraudulently obtained document is a criminal offence. Any such submission will result in permanent termination without refund, and the matter will be reported to the relevant law-enforcement authority.
